Sr Research Analyst - Wellpoint (Wilmington, DE)

HealthCore, Inc., a health services research firm headquartered in Wilmington, DE, is seeking a Research Analyst or Senior Research Analyst with experience in epidemiology and biostatistics to join our dynamic company. Founded in 1996, and now an independently-operating subsidiary of WellPoint, Inc., HealthCore provides the health care system, biopharmaceutical industry, academia, and the Federal Government with "real-world" data to improve the quality, safety, and affordability of healthcare. HealthCores projects range from retrospective to large-scale, prospective studies in the areas of drug, vaccine, and medical device safety surveillance, risk management, pharmacoepidemiology, health outcomes, pharmaeconomics, and comparative effectiveness research. We are currently seeking a Research Analyst or Senior Research Analyst for the Safety and Epidemiology Service Team to work in our Wilmington, DE or Andover, MA or new in autumn in Washington DC area.. The Research Analyst or Senior Research Analyst will collaborate with the research team, including clinicians, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, programmers, and others to conduct safety and risk management research projects for the pharmaceutical, biotech and device manufacturers line of business. Responsibilities vary with the positions and include:
  • Performing safety surveillance, risk management, and pharmacoepidemiology research activities under the direction of senior staff;
  • Supporting research activities in statistical analyses, statistical expertise, reporting and communication of results;
  • Contributing to the development of proposals, protocols, and statistical analysis plans;
  • Conducting review of administrative claims data and statistical output to ensure accuracy of results;
  • Performing project management, with a focus on timeline and budget adherence;
  • Mentoring Research Analysts on service team.
Qualifications This position requires a masters or doctoral level degree or relevant education and/or equivalent training in health services research, epidemiology, biostatistics, or a related field. Experience with advanced statistical techniques, such as propensity score matching, marginal structural models, spatial analysis, survival analysis, and/or signal detection techniques preferred. Strong study design, analytic skills, and proficiency in programming with one or more statistical applications (SAS, Stata) are required. Experience with health plan administrative databases (pharmacy and medical claims) is a plus.
