Statistician/Analyst (Oakdale, MN)

Job Description:

The Statistician/Analyst provides insight to support the cost-effective revenue growth objectives of the enterprise operation using customer databases. The position will proactively provide data-driven information, analytic solutions in the areas of Database Marketing, Statistical Modeling and Segmentation, and Experimental Test Design and Statistical Analysis. The Marketing Statistician/Analyst works with various departments throughout the corporation, presents exciting opportunities and provides challenging and highly autonomous environment

Responsibilities:

Working with management, you will be responsible for identifying business questions and designing and implementing approaches to answering them, including using moderately complex database-related analyses and projects. Responsibilities include: marketing and referral campaign reporting and analysis, data mining, profitability analysis, customer attrition research and reporting, customer segmentation, identifying data sources and opportunities for statistical models, responding to requests from partners for specific customer reports and analyses.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Marketing, Statistics, Math, MIS, Economics or related field
  • Proven analytical experience and with communicating results clearly and concisely to management in both written and oral presentations
  • Collaborates well with others and successful at building partnerships
  • Self-motivated and can work independently
  • Able to keep larger goals in mind, along with attention to detail and quality
  • 3-5 years in financial, marketing analysis and/or data mining experience
  • 3-5 years SQL reporting and analysis query experience
  • Proficient in Excel and other MS Office tools
  • Creativity and flexibility as the data and infrastructure evolve

Preferred Skills:
  • Experience in campaign design for effective measurement and analysis
  • Experience with MDSS
  • Experience participating in or building statistical models
  • Advanced user and fluency in at least 1 statistical software package
  • Experience with ad hoc analytical query tools

Sr. Analyst (Chicago, IL)

The Chicago office of a marketing analytics consulting firm is looking for a Sr. Analyst to spearhead analytical projects for their clients. Establish experimental designs for marketing programs and conduct analysis to determine effectiveness of marketing campaigns. Develop profiles, predictive models and segmentation schemes that will enhance client campaign performance. Deliver value-added insight into analysis results and recommend actions based on findings. Position is client facing so effective written and verbal communication is key. Occasional travel required. Must have an advanced degree in statistics, economics, mathematics, or related field, and SAS programming and Microsoft Office proficiency. Minimum of 5 years applied analytical database marketing experience and some web analytics experience highly desired. Salary to $95,000.

Reinsurance Actuarial Analyst (Bermuda)

The D. E. Shaw group seeks a talented individual to join its reinsurance business in Bermuda. The Reinsurance Actuarial Analyst will play an integral role in establishing and growing the reinsurance strategy and will be involved in quantitative data analysis and model development.

Responsibilities:

  • model expected profitability and risk on a per-contract and portfolio basis, using a combination of vendor and proprietary tools and techniques
  • assist underwriting team with pricing and risk analyses for submissions
  • maintain overall data integrity for the business
  • work with counterparties and vendors to validate model assumptions and inputs
  • contribute to ongoing development of analytical tools General Qualifications:
  • thorough understanding of probabilistic and statistical concepts and reasoning used in risk analysis for reinsurance
  • undergraduate degree in mathematics, statistics, or another quantitative field
  • proven ability to work independently
  • excellent communication skills and strong attention to detail

The successful candidate will also fulfill two of the following three qualifications:
  • part-qualified actuary designation
  • minimum three years of reinsurance industry experience
  • minimum two years of experience using RMS or AIR software for catastrophe modeling

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop eCommerce enhancement plans from careful study of analytics, consumer data, and extensive research.
  • Facilitate a complete enhancement of e-commerce engine thru:
    • click stream analysis
    • on site search
    • working closely with UX Specialist
    • on site search
    • development of repeat customer business
    • site performance-general stats (i.e. visitor info, sales, etc)
    • customer funnel analysis
    • category and merchandise performance (top/bottom categories, products, brands, etc.)
    • ongoing improvement of taxonomy structures
    • identify most compelling ad imagery & copy
    • category ad click-thru analysis
    • home page & landing page features, site ads, promotions, space allocation, traffic analysis
    • website user behavior
  • Drive initiatives for improving site conversion rates.
  • Develop extensive business rules for ongoing promotions.
  • Collaborate with peers to ensure consistency of information, methodologies and reports; share best practices and develop systems knowledge.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • 6+ years ecommerce/web management experience.
  • Ability to strategically interpret data and successful develop recommendations.
  • Strong ecommerce and marketing skills - demonstrated ability to develop and manage cross-functional programs and deliver online revenue growth.
  • Proven success in developing promotions for relationship marketing, direct marketing, and e-marketing business practices, preferably in a retail environment.
  • Passion for influencing consumer behavior
  • Experience with web analytics tools like Core Metrics, Webtrends, Webside Story, and/or Omniture etc….
  • CRM software experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • Exceptional communication, organizational, and leadership abilities.
