Compensation: $105 - $140k plus strong bonuses and stock

Purpose:

Our client, a large financial services firm, is looking for a senior level executive to assist with the analysis of numeric, market and operational data.

Director of Statistics Responsibilities:

This Director performs advanced level and/or managerial oversight of the validation of complex statistical and arithmetic models utilized by multiple business lines. This position will be responsible for developing an understanding the model validation requirements and developing and administering a program to meet those needs in a manner that is independent of management. This work will require being a technical consultant and subject matter expert. Included in this role will be the actual performance of model validation and the oversight of work performed by other associates performing model validation work. In addition, this position will be responsible for assessing management's progress of implementing and adhering to model governance standards throughout the company.

  • Manage and develop statistics and analytics professionals who develop predictive models that will be used by clients in the credit card, mortgage and checking business.
  • Manage and develop statistics and analytics professionals who help develop strategies to assist with decision making process.

Director of Statistics Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in statistics, analytics, economics, or biostatistics
  • 8+ years of applied experience
  • Accomplished user of classic statistical tools (for example, linear models, logistic regression, hypothesis testing, sampling)
  • SAS programming, solid on data step and several of the advanced statistical procedures, familiar with macros
  • Experience in any of following: risk management, direct marketing, consumer lending, FICO scoring, mortgage lending, credit card or checking industry.
  • Ability to apply analytical and problem solving skills to develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
  • Knowledge and experience with any of the following: SAS, SPSS or SQL.
  • Excellent teaching skills & extensive experience in leading change in complex business environments
  • Superior communications skills

Associate Director

Scope of Position:

  • Work with and on behalf of agency clients to develop and execute data-driven marketing strategies.
  • Lead project teams to develop and integrate strategy, planning, operations and analysis of internal customer data and external data sources as appropriate.
  • Specific Responsibilities: Evaluate clients’ business objectives to determine appropriate database marketing solutions, define project objectives and develop work plans.
  • Analytical services
    • Program Effectiveness

    • Profitability Analysis
  • Statistical Modeling
    • Database Development/Management
    • List Management
    • Fulfillment Management.
  • Develop budgets for database components of client proposals and ensure resource availability.
  • Provide project leadership to project teams.
  • Guide the selection of tools, technologies and applications to maintain state-of-the-art data management and decision-making. Consult with clients on development of integrated marketing databases or data warehouses designed to improve information capture and segmentation capabilities. Can also include enhancements to existing systems.
  • Select, coordinate with, and manage service bureaus who are maintaining client databases.
  • Work closely with account management, customer dialogue and media at key points of project streams to ensure full integration.
  • Participate in new business development activities: planning and presenting in pitch environment.

Technical Skills:
  • 7+ years experience in database marketing, relationship marketing, or data management
  • Extensive programming in SAS
  • Solid understanding of all aspects of database marketing (process, approach, tools and techniques) with hands-on expertise in at least one dimension.
  • Analytical skills and experience with market data analysis; identifying and explaining trends in business indicators.
  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and ideas to non-technical audience.
  • Ability to translate broad marketing strategies into technical applications.
  • Solid understanding of direct marketing economics
  • Analytical background required, MBA a plus
