Quantitative Analyst - Sun Trading LLC (Chicago, IL)

Sun Trading LLC is looking for junior financial engineers / quantitative analysts with the skills suitable for the following jobs within an FE Group: algorithm design, high-frequency data modeling, and statistical analysis.

The FE Group develops models and ideas into automated trading strategies to interface with electronic marketplaces. Financial engineers work with other groups to develop, implement and manage automated electronic trading strategies.

Principal Responsibilities:

Qualifications:
  • 1-2 years experience in electronic financial markets with extensive exposure to live trading environment and high-frequency trading
  • Advanced mathematical and quantitative skills with very strong numerical background and good statistical/empirical skills
  • Post-graduate level education in mathematics, finance or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Some experience with programming in Java/C/C++
  • Knowledge of modeling language (S/R/MATLAB) as well as database queries (SQL/KDB/Q).

Summary

The role requested is a Health Safety Security and Environmental (HSSE) Data Analyst. The successful candidate will be accountable for providing accurate HSSE Performance Reporting and the Primary Local Traction System Administrator (LTSA) for the North American Gas Strategic Performance Unit (SPU).

The North America Gas SPU is one of the largest SPU’s within BP’s global Exploration and Production business and is a top tier producer of natural gas in North America. The SPU operates in nine US states and Canada and is staffed by ca. 3,200 employees. The five Performance Units and multiple gas processing plants, is designed to be a sustainable, material business for decades. The SPU operates more than 13,000 producing wells, with reserves >2 bn boe and total production >450 mboed, of which ~75% is operated and ~25% non-operated. The SPU invests more than $2 bn in capital annually, with the majority focused on development drilling and near field exploration. The SPU operates 25 drilling rigs and numerous work-over rigs, maintaining a level loaded program.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other IT related Degree
- Advanced Business Objects expertise (creating HSSE reports and scheduling to the web through Broadcast Agent)
- Strong attention to detail and detail oriented problem solving skills
- The ability to turn data into information and to communicate this concisely to management
- A performance bias and a desire for continuous improvement
- Strong oral and written communication skills with good time management

6. Work with BA¿s and Subject Matter Experts to identify and understand business needs for data
7. Perform data analysis to assist in the triage of data anomalies
8. Participate in database design review sessions
9. Participate in capacity and growth planning in the development environments
10. Provide technical leadership to project teams
11. Provide expertise with large volume data loading, SQL Tuning, and problem diagnosis
12. Provide standard database administration for development databases (Monitoring, Tuning, Patching, Backup/Recovery).

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. Four to six years experience of Data Warehousing database development experience
2. Experience with complex applications which require analyzing information, problems, practices or procedures to: Define the problem or objective; identify relevant, concerns or factors; identify patterns, tendencies and relationships; formulate logical and objective conclusions and recognize alternatives and their implications
3. Seven to nine years experience of database design experience.
4. Ability to manage technical tasks to meet project goals (upgrades, enhancements, etc.)
5. Ability to work effectively on concurrent, multiple tasks and projects
6. Ability to work independently to coordinate, organize and track tasks effectively and meet project deadlines
7. Excellent oral and written communication skills

Join us as a Product Manager - Home Price Index (HPI) Analyst working among the smartest and most often-quoted real estate information professionals in the business.
You will play a key role in the ongoing development, enhancement and maintenance of LoanPerformance HPI, the industry-leading home price index deployed via TrueStandings, our web-based analytics, reporting and data delivery platform. You will also be responsible for integrating other real estate data products with LoanPerformance HPI.

The responsibilities of this position also include identifying, addressing, and fulfilling "ahead of the curve" real estate data opportunities and solutions that will both increase and deepen our client base. Qualifications:


The ideal candidate will have the following:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:

  • 5+ years Web Analysis experience including: measures, terminology, benchmarks
  • Familiarity with metrics for online consumer businesses (user acquisition, clickstream analysis, marketing efficiency, consumer lifecycle, etc.)
  • Previous experience with Web analytics packages is mandatory (e.g., HBX, Omniture, Google Analytics, etc.)
  • Experience with online research tools, such as comScore Media Metrix, Nielsen NetRatings, eMarketer, Jupiter, Forrester, etc
  • Understanding of traditional market research techniques, statistical reporting and panel methodologies
  • Strong skills in problem definition, rigorous analysis, and recommendation development
  • Deep understanding of online business models and processes and a strong understanding of marketing concepts and strategies
  • Self-motivated, deadline-driven, ability to support multiple projects at a time
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and oral, comfortable presenting to large groups
  • Bachelor's Degree required

Desirable: Some knowledge of relational databases and SQL
