Spatial Statistical Analyst - Everglades National Park (Homestead, FL)

Term (up to 4 years) position available in the Biological Resources Branch at Everglades National Park.

Develop analytical and geostatistical solutions to examine spatial trends of land cover and wildlife habitat change in the Everglades landscape and landscape model integration with public and policy-maker decision support systems. The incumbent will be expected to develop innovative and effective approaches examining scale, spatial configuration and landscape issues in the creation, validation and application of regional models. Using integrating computer models and other tools with biological and physical scientific information and resources management practices, conducts analysis of geo-referenced data to determine resources conditions or trends; models expected or predicted results of alternative management actions; and works to aid in resolution to management issues. Integrates a variety of GIS, statistical and database management software, and when necessary, modifies or adapts standard software to meet program needs. Implements data documentation procedures and data distribution using appropriate technologies, e.g. Internet.

Reinsurance Actuarial Analyst - D.E. Shaw (Bermuda)

Position summary

The Contact Database Manager (CDM) is responsible for the overall integrity, administration and maintenance of WRI’s Contact Database Management System (CDMS). Integrating the CDMS into staff’s daily workflow, thereby facilitating wide spread adoption and ensuring that the system is used to its fullest potential will be the critical measures of success for the Contact Database Manager. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem-solver and strategic and organized thinker. The successful candidate will be a team player, self-motivated, attentive to detail and able to work well under pressure while juggling multiple tasks simultaneously. The CDM will have an integral role in the Institute’s ability to communicate and share information effectively. The CDM will serve as the primary staff liaison for the Institute’s Contact Database Management System. One of the primary roles of the CDM is to serve as primary staff liaison for troubleshooting the Contact Database Management System. This individual must have advanced knowledge and technical expertise in all aspects of the current version of Raisers Edge. Major responsibilities

Database Administration

  • Maintains a clear vision and strategy for the database and stays abreast of new trends in technology related directly to or impacting the Contact Database Management System.
  • Ensures contact database design is aligned with the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Investigates new ways the Contact Database Management System can be utilized.
  • Manages user accounts and security.
  • Reviews and manages content, provides end user assistance, report writing, preserving the configuration structure of the system and performing routine database maintenance, such as global changes and importing.

  • Works with IT to ensure database backups occur, servers are maintained.

Training
  • Provides staff with the needed training and skills necessary to successfully enter data, design and generate queries, export data, and produce lists and reports.

  • Facilitates steering committee meetings at defined intervals to solicit feedback, coordinate and prioritize outstanding activities, ensure that needs of programs/departments are being met, and provide staff with status information on the CDM system.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience using Raisers Edge.
  • Demonstrated computer competencies in Crystal Reports and MS Office, specifically Outlook, GroupWise, Excel and Access.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, overall flexibility in job responsibility and the capacity to troubleshoot multiple software programs a must.
  • Highly developed understanding of database systems; expertise in database queries, import/export, and reporting functions.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.

SAS Administrator to provide support for SAS Unix server application environment. The candidate will be an experienced SAS administrator with skills for a SAS 9.1.x environment. This person will also participate in the production software deployments, upgrades, capacity planning, backup strategies, as well as software/hardware integration planning and will coordinate troubleshooting and make recommendations for the configuration of the SAS application.

Research best practices and provide pre- and post-implementation documentation.

Primary Purpose of the Position

Working independently and on teams and committees, this position is responsible for providing front office investment support for Portfolio Managers, Analysts, and Traders. In addition, the incumbent must maintain good working relationships with Front Office Investment clients and TRPA staff. Networks with appropriate upstream and downstream customers, vendors, service teams and developers to ensure data errors are resolved and processes are revised in order to mitigate risk of repeat issues; may also represent Investment Staff by serving on committees and project teams (e.g., MIDR Data Policy Committee) for evolving data needs and reporting along with impacts of regulatory changes.
