The Statistical Analyst is responsible for providing knowledge in statistical analysis to institutional staff interested in conducting clinical or experimental studies or to other researchers as designated by grant relationships. Programming, analysis of data, graphical presentation and reporting of results, interpretation and explanation of statistical techniques used, and making valid inferences are to be appropriately executed under the direct guidance of a Biostatistics Faculty Member, Project Leader or Lead Senior Biostatistician. Direct collaboration with investigators and clinical research associates is not expected (or is done mainly through the Biostatistics Faculty Member, Project Leader, or Lead Senior Biostatistician).

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree in biostatistics, applied statistics, or related field.
  • Prior medical consulting and/or graduate research experience in a bio-statistical environment preferred.

Senior Statistician / Data Mining Analyst (Seattle, WA)

A private, rapidly growing Seattle-based company has an immediate opening for a senior statistician / data mining analyst. Our company contacts millions of consumers a month and is accumulating vast quantities of rich interaction response data. In this position, you will be part of an analytics team tasked with mining this store of heterogeneous consumer interaction data, creating predictive models, and designing and building a data warehouse in support of same. This position will interact with the company’s Product Management, Engineering, Professional Services, Operations, Sales, and other groups.

The successful candidate will design experiments, conduct data mining analyses, build predictive models, and assist in the development of a real-time production scoring capability. Experience in prototyping and implementation of the latest data mining/machine learning algorithms as well as strong database programming skills are a must.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop, prototype, and enhance data mining and predictive modeling algorithms.
  • Implement and maintain code to support data mining and predictive modeling efforts.
  • Implement and maintain code for transforming raw transaction data into household/customer level representations (ETL).
  • Assist in the creation of infrastructure for efficient transfer off-line models to real-time scoring systems.
  • Monitor live production applications for quality, effectiveness, and improvement.

Requirements:

Required:

  • Advanced degree (PhD preferred) in quantitative field (i.e., Statistics, Engineering, Computer Science, etc.).
  • Strong scientific programming skills in an object-oriented language (Java experience a plus).
  • Strong experience in statistics packages (e.g. Matlab, R, S-Plus, SAS).
  • Strong SQL skills, preferably Oracle.
  • 2-4 years of relevant work experience.
  • The ability to take initiative and work autonomously while at the same time contributing to team objectives.

The Global Financial Service Business Unit (GFS) provides innovative and focused consultancy services to clients within Financial Markets, Retail Banking and Insurance.

As a SAS Consultant, you will play a key part in the delivery of SAS based solutions ranging from MI reporting solutions right through to fully blown analytical data warehouses. This role is likely to include: design, build and test of small to medium end-to-end SAS processes, design and implementation of data marts/data warehouses, design, build and test of SAS BI Solutions, performing analytics using the SAS toolkit, leadership of small teams of developers and involvement in bid response. Depending on the size of a given opportunity this role may either be the Detica lead (fulfilling a number of roles), or working in conjunction with other specialists (e.g. technical architects / delivery managers).

This position is based in our NY office and reports to the Head of Data Management and Analytics.

Requirements

  • A degree in a technical/ mathematical discipline from a four year college or university, but just as important is demonstrable expertise in a relevant consulting or technology area, strong client-facing skills and evidence of continued career progression.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in the financial services- gained either in a blue-chip company or major consultancy environment
  • 1-2 years of experience with employing various types of analytical techniques including statistical analysis, neural networks and optimization to describe behaviors, make predictions, measure performance and optimize actions.
  • A successful track record of delivering SAS based solutions within a cross-section of Financial Services disciplines. A successful candidate would be expected to demonstrate experience in a number of the following areas: pre-sales work, initial client engagement, requirements gathering, solution design, solution implementation, testing and performance optimisation.
  • Proven successful commercial experience in developing Data Warehouses, Business Intelligence, Data Quality and Management Information/Analytics solutions using SAS software, you will also have an exposure to and understanding of various business problems including Data Warehousing, Customer Relationship Management, Supplier Relationship Management, Management Information and general Business Intelligence.
  • Comfortable working on highly customized solutions as well as with commercial software packages and be able to differentiate between established/proven technology and pioneering/immature technology.
  • Ability to accurately and thoroughly gather and document business visions and detailed requirements, and have a firm understanding of the design/delivery implications associated with these requirements.
  • Have a familiarity with all of the major components within data warehouse architecture (such as enterprise warehouse, ETL, OLAP reporting, operational data stores, meta data management, data marts, analytical warehouse and reference data management).
  • Comfortable with working directly with the customer to understand their requirements and translate these into scalable, robust and maintainable designs and solutions.

Requirements

  • 1-3 years of experience with employing various types of analytical techniques including statistical analysis, neural networks and optimization to describe behaviors, make predictions, measure performance and optimize actions.
