JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Develop new algorithms to match online consumers to marketing campaigns.

  • Strong SQL skills. Ability to aggregate and join data to support statistical analysis.
  • Ability to parse and manipulate large log files, in LINUX environment, to prepare data for statistical analysis.

  • Partner with business users and technical teams to develop critical reporting and analysis applications. Work on the synthesis of business requirements, acquisition and delivery of data to business users by working through all phases of development including data modeling.
  • Create internal reporting processes and analytical reports to improve information resources available to top management.
  • Perform complex data analysis to advise management on data interpretation on incentive plan performance; Conduct hypothesis settings and the formulation of new or revised components within an incentive plan by performing predictive analysis via statistical models.
  • Work with business intelligence reporting tools to design and deliver self-service reports to end users.
  • Be technically savvy to work directly with databases for designing data structures.

Qualifications

Expert Skill/Knowledge in the following:

  • Statistical Analysis: SPSS and/or SAS
  • Data Warehouse design techniques for data storage and retrieval

Experience/Education:

Sr. Software Engineer, Business Intelligence (Mountain View, CA)

Join us in building the next generation business intelligence systems. Your role will be to help design and implement these mission-critical, semi real-time, enterprise-grade systems.

The Business Intelligence team is responsible for delivering key set of capabilities across all our high volume, high traffic applications. The intelligence derived from our tools helps internal and external partners make better informed decisions. The enterprise we are building is based on open-source components and off-the-shelf hardware, with the capability to cascade, and partition horizontally and vertically. It provides unlimited scalability, along with built-in fault tolerance and hot failover capabilities; mining, analyzing, and feeding real-time decision support systems.

Our enterprise runs on our own database replication system, recently open-sourced to bruce.codehaus.org.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 6+ years of hands on experience developing software systems
  • Experience in and understanding of SQL and Unix.
  • Must have good experience programming in Java. Candidates without Java must have strong C++ skills and a solid understanding of Object-Oriented design.
  • Must have experience in data modeling.
  • Strong knowledge of multiple RDBMS’s
  • Computer Science Degree or equivalent experience
  • “Ideal” candidate will have some experience with statistical learning

DESIRED SKILLS:
  • Prior experience designing and developing BI platforms/tools
  • Experience with dimensional modeling, data warehousing/data marts, ETL
  • Experience with PostgreSQL would be helpful but not required.
  • Demonstrated ability to understand real business problems and understand how BI should help solve those problems.
  • Computer Science Degree or equivalent experience

Metron employs its simulation system products in support of real-time operations, experimentation, distributed simulation and wargaming, and the acquisition analysis process.

Job Description

Lead and oversee all aspects of operational analysis projects. Manage teams of analysts and software developers and successfully deliver products to clients. Interact with customers, both onsite and offsite, gather requirements and data, write and present briefings, and contribute to the development of Metron tools. Work with Group Manager to identify new customers, and to plan, formulate, and write poposals. This will include defining the objective or purpose of the work, estimating costs and specifying the capabilities of the product to be delivered. Participate in the design, implementation, test and evaluation, and employment of simulation tools.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Strong analytic and problem solving skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Active DOD Secret or Top Secret security clearance.
  • Military operations analysis experience, including C4I, Naval operations and tactics.
  • Experience as a technical team leader, or in managing operational analysis projects.

Highly Desired:
  • Experience with discrete event simulations.
  • Strong technical/mathematical education or background.
  • B.S in Computer Science, Math, Physics, Operations Research, or Engineering.

Helpful:
  • Masters in a technical discipline.
  • Experience in a variety of software development activities (e.g., design, modeling, prototyping, documentation, testing).
