SUMMARY
The Senior Business Intelligence Data Mining Analyst is responsible for developing data mining/business intelligence analytics to generate knowledge and data insight about Ingram Micro’s customers, vendors, products and operations. Other responsibilities include database and data mining platform maintenance, extensive SQL programming and analytical report generation.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Data Mining (statistical modeling)
- Creation and implementation of statistical predictive models including such algorithms as neural networks, decision tress, regression, clustering, association etc
- Build and implement custom build algorithms
- Research and stay current with the latest data mining trends/algorithms
- Documentation of models and procedures
- Generation of knowledge and insight about Ingram Micro’s customers, vendors, products and operations
- Creation of Power Point reports for delivery to Ingram's Vendor partners
- Assist in the creation of Vendor marketing programs for analytical studies
- Be sufficient in various database packages (IBM DB2, MS SQL, Oracle) and database programming languages (SQL etc)
- Proficient in the technical understanding of database administration
- Manipulate and process large amounts of data from thousands of sources and multiple servers
- Ability to troubleshoot and work with Ingram/ACS DBAs to resolve issues
- Get data insight delivered to those who require it, when and where they need to, in a way that they can use the information to make decisions or drive business.
- Data synergy among Ingram's various different departments
Education: BS or MS/PHD degree with emphasis on quantitative analysis (i.e. statistics, econometrics, mathematical modeling, data mining, computer sciences) required OR 4 years’ related external experience OR 2 years’ related Ingram Micro experience .
Experience: Minimum of 3-4 years experience in analysis of large data sets, focused on mathematical modeling, statistical modeling or data mining. Expertise in major data mining platforms and applications (i.e. IBM Intelligent Miner, SAS Enterprise Miner); experience using major statistical analysis packages (i.e. SPSS, SAS Stats); strong working knowledge of relational databases and database management (i.e. DB2, MS SQL Server); advanced skills in MS Excel, MS Access, SQL. Basic knowledge of commonly used marketing principles and techniques.
Minimum kinds of knowledge, skills and abilities required to do this job:
- Knowledge of major data mining platforms and applications (i.e. IBM Intelligent Miner, SAS Enterprise Miner, Clementine); experience using major statistical analysis packages (i.e. SPSS, SAS Stats); strong working knowledge of relational databases and database management (i.e. DB2, MS SQL Server); advanced skills in MS Excel, MS Access, SQL
- Skill in: Working with data in a highly analytic environment; working with data in a cross platform environment; excellent computer application skills and an expert in MS Excel, Access, and SQL; movement and manipulation of data in a server environment.
- Ability to: Work in a cross functional environment, experiment in new areas of knowledge management, communicate effectively, drive analysis projects to completion under deadlines, and understand the appropriate use of data.
