The ability to identify and develop in-depth understanding of trends, issues, and system and user behavior from a rich set of data of a large scale distributed software system in near real time, and swiftly improving the system and business performance based on timely, reliable information is central to our success. SEVEN is seeking a unique individual that has both the engineering skills to understand the fundamentals of our products as well as the data analysis background to influence strategic business decisions based on analysis of user data as well as system performance. You will lead a cross functional team in building the next generation of capabilities, tools and processes to improve system and business performance through collecting and transforming rich data into reliable, timely information and fact-based decision making both at operational and executive levels..
Primary Responsibilities
- Design and implementation of metrics, tools and processes for timely measurement of past, current and prediction of future performance of large scale distributed software systems and their users, and fact-based decision making both at operational and executive levels
- Lead a cross functional team to design and implement operational intelligence in monitoring complex systems and their users to identify and detect situations relating to inefficiencies, opportunities and threats
- Design and perform multi-dimensional analyses, including real-time monitoring, correlation of events, root cause analyses and time series and trending analyses
- Evangelize the rich data and metrics to both internal and external audiences
Required Qualifications:
- 5+ years of software engineering experience in system design, testing and performance analysis for large scale distributed systems
- Java skills and object-oriented design experience in a UNIX environment
- Excellent knowledge of relational databases, SQL, ETL and OLAP
- Demonstrated clear and thorough logical and analytical thinking, as well as problem solving skills - can find root causes from symptoms and drive short and long term programs to address them
- Hands-on experience in conducting systematic exploratory data analyses and developing algorithms and tools for data mining is essential.
- Superior and proactive communications skills, including verbal, written, and presentation to explain technical issues in plain English
- Attention to details and data accuracy
Desired Qualifications:
- MS in Applied Mathematics, Computer Science/Engineering, Statistics, or equivalent; PhD a plus
- Fluency in statistical and quantitative analysis methods
- Expertise in business intelligence tool packages
- Cross-functional leadership skills and track record of achievements in helping businesses improve and transform processes with bottom-line impact
- Experience in working for a venture backed company
