Position summary

The Contact Database Manager (CDM) is responsible for the overall integrity, administration and maintenance of WRI’s Contact Database Management System (CDMS). Integrating the CDMS into staff’s daily workflow, thereby facilitating wide spread adoption and ensuring that the system is used to its fullest potential will be the critical measures of success for the Contact Database Manager. The ideal candidate will be a creative problem-solver and strategic and organized thinker. The successful candidate will be a team player, self-motivated, attentive to detail and able to work well under pressure while juggling multiple tasks simultaneously. The CDM will have an integral role in the Institute’s ability to communicate and share information effectively. The CDM will serve as the primary staff liaison for the Institute’s Contact Database Management System. One of the primary roles of the CDM is to serve as primary staff liaison for troubleshooting the Contact Database Management System. This individual must have advanced knowledge and technical expertise in all aspects of the current version of Raisers Edge. This position will require both technical level experience and the ability to interface with all levels of users.

Major responsibilities

Database Administration

  • Maintains a clear vision and strategy for the database and stays abreast of new trends in technology related directly to or impacting the Contact Database Management System.
  • Ensures contact database design is aligned with the strategic goals of the organization.
  • Investigates new ways the Contact Database Management System can be utilized.
  • Manages user accounts and security.
  • Reviews and manages content, provides end user assistance, report writing, preserving the configuration structure of the system and performing routine database maintenance, such as global changes and importing.
  • Ensures all integrations with other systems, websites, etc. are functioning properly.
  • Works with IT to ensure database backups occur, servers are maintained.
  • Plans and implements software upgrades; establishing and documenting database protocols.
  • Collaborates with Web team to ensure strategic coordination and implementation between online features and backend communication between CDM and CDMS.
  • Provides technical support.

Training
  • Provides staff with the needed training and skills necessary to successfully enter data, design and generate queries, export data, and produce lists and reports.
  • Conducts regular contact database training sessions.
  • Facilitates steering committee meetings at defined intervals to solicit feedback, coordinate and prioritize outstanding activities, ensure that needs of programs/departments are being met, and provide staff with status information on the CDM system.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience using Raisers Edge.
  • Demonstrated computer competencies in Crystal Reports and MS Office, specifically Outlook, GroupWise, Excel and Access.
  • Superior analytical and problem-solving skills, overall flexibility in job responsibility and the capacity to troubleshoot multiple software programs a must.
  • Highly developed understanding of database systems; expertise in database queries, import/export, and reporting functions.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
