Responsibilities
- Generate tons of ideas for transforming SpeedDateâ??s data into practical product and marketing initiatives
- Conduct research projects using techniques from statistics, machine learning, and data mining to gain insights into improving user experience and achieving business goals
- Manipulate large volumes of both internal and external data
- Communicate findings to technical and non-technical colleagues
- Transform data analysis conclusions into actionable initiatives including predictive models, marketing recommendations, algorithm enhancements, and beyond
- Work closely with engineers and product/marketing managers to get your ideas into production
- 5+ years in data analytics / business intelligence / database marketing
- Excellent understanding of statistics, regression analysis, machine learning, and other predictive modeling techniques
- Interest in any and all of the following subjects: matchmaking/recommendation systems, search, spam detection, social network analysis, segmentation, conversion rate optimization, lifetime value, retention analysis, and user experience modeling
- You gravitate towards creating the simplest model possible to solve a problem, but donâ??t shy away from using complex methodologies when called for
- Experience with SAS, SPSS or R
- Comfortable with database schemas and command-line scripting for aggregating, cleaning, and processing data
- Knowledge of SQL
- Proactive, self-starter who is happy working both independently and with a team
- PhD/Masters in a related field (i.e. statistics, mathematics, industrial engineering, or similar)
- Comfortable working in a startup environment
- Excited about applying data analysis to define the future of online and mobile dating
