Statistician - NetJets (Columbus, OH)

Job Title: Statistician Grade: 8

SUMMARY

Responsible to provide timely, relevant, and accurate analysis of operational data as needed. Expected to enhance existing analysis models, manage complex data sources, and develop new models that advance the understanding of the operation. Success requires an interest in understanding the underlying business, translating statistical concepts into actionable and understandable insights, and applying appropriate levels of pragmatism and accuracy in modeling.

  • Develop and present analysis of key business questions
  • Deliver enhancements to planning and execution tools
  • Enhance Company’s ability to forecast and plan effectively
KEY ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Forecasting & Analysis

  • Conduct timely, relevant, and accurate operations analysis.
  • Improve robustness and relevance of forecasting and analysis tools.
  • Determine impact of changes to owned and total NetJets fleet counts as needed.
  • Develop and present recommendations for changes to operating model based on analytical findings.
  • Work with Crew Resource Planning, Maintenance, Flight Schedule Planning and Finance to identify opportunities for performance improvements and recommend corrective action that appropriately balances service and cost.
  • Work with Technology Services to monitor the adequacy and integrity of demand and supply databases. Develop reporting capability that supports forecasting requirements.
  • Benchmark metrics and analytical tools in similar companies and industries.
Communicator
  • Create and manage meaningful metrics used to keep the organization aware of potential demand-supply imbalances.
  • Understand business model behind each NetJets functional area.
  • Be comfortable presenting key findings to company leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Mathematics, Statistics or related analytical field required.
  • Master’s in related field preferred
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities. Must be able to see past the symptoms and find root causes.
  • Familiarity with NetJets core competencies including, but not limited to flight scheduling, crew scheduling, crew planning, maintenance planning and Owner service.
  • Advanced-level proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access and PowerPoint. Familiarity with data retrieval systems.
  • Must be capable of “big picture” thinking.
  • Ability to clearly and effectively communicate.
  • Must be able to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals as well as be persistent and determined toward achieving goals.
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to as well as act as a catalyst for change.
  • Ability to remain cool under pressure in a dynamic work environment.
  • Must be sensitive to and able to effectively work in a political climate.

  • Regular schedule 8:00am – 5:00pm, Monday - Friday with occasional additional demands
  • May be required to be on-call during peak demand periods
  • Able to transport self between Easton and Bridgeway Facilities.
