Quantitative Analyst - Capital IQ (Chicago, IL)

Job Title: Quantitative Analyst
Location: Chicago, IL

Responsibilities:

You’ve worked hard to achieve your advanced degree in math, financial engineering and/or a hard science, and now you’re ready to make your mark on the financial services industry. You may have even started your career in computer science or financial analytics, returned to school to earn your MS or PhD from a top institution and are now looking to test your skills on Wall Street.

Capital IQ is looking for an exceptionally talented Quantitative Analyst to join their research team. As a Quantitative Analyst, you will be responsible for performing statistical research on a variety of market and fundamental data to develop excess return models for our US and Global institutional client-base.

You will face interesting challenges and be counted on to creatively determine how best to get your job done. You must value the free exchange ideas, soliciting critical feedback to make your work better, and, above all, finding the best solution to the challenge at hand. Along with a keen analytical mind, you are an excellent communicator and writer, the type of person who prefers discussing an interesting book they’ve recently read to watching television.

Along with technical skills, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong character, integrity and respect for others. You will be part of a young, smart and entrepreneurial environment, one where you can run with your ideas and directly impact the group’s bottom-line. This is a potentially senior-level position for candidates with relevant work experience.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional academic background from a top program in area of concentration.
  • Advanced degree in financial engineering, mathematics, statistics or hard-science field required. PhD preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of statistics, probability theory and stochastic calculus, along with the ability to apply the concepts to solve practical modeling and application problems.
  • Existing knowledge of financial data, portfolio theory, and/or related work/research experience is preferred.
  • Experience with programming languages – C++, VBA, C#, Java - is a significant advantage.
  • Strong experience with statistical software packages – SAS, MatLab, and/or Perl - desired.
  • A professional, highly dedicated, detail-oriented, and energetic personality with the ability to work and thrive in an entrepreneurial and team environment. Must be willing to take direction, but also share ideas and feedback in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate ideas effectively and solve problem creatively.
