Responsibilities:

Capital IQ seeks an experienced Quantitative Application Developer to join our team to develop quantitative research products for the global equity markets. In this role, you will be responsible for the design, implementation and maintenance of our quantitative research product, as well as backend production applications under .NET framework. You may have even started your career at a financial services or financial analytics firm building applications which rely on vast time-series data and/or mathematical processes. Cool under pressure you always get the job done.

The successful candidate will work with large datasets and translate user requirements and needs into programming or technical specifications and recommend solutions to the team. You will face interesting challenges and be counted on to creatively determine how best to get your job done. You must value the free exchange ideas, soliciting critical feedback to make your work better, and, above all, finding the best solution to the challenge at hand.

Along with technical skills, the ideal candidate will demonstrate strong character, integrity and respect for others. This is potentially a senior-level position for candidates with relevant work experience.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • 3-5 years of significant experience with full life cycle of web and desktop application development. Must be versed in the latest web technologies.
  • Advanced knowledge of .NET framework, ASP.NET, C++/C# and object-oriented design required.
  • Working knowledge of AJAX, Javascript, XML/XSLT preferred.
  • Strong skills in working with large datasets through SQL queries and an understanding of data modeling logical diagrams required.
  • Working knowledge of statistical or modeling packages such as SAS or Matlab and/or quantitative research systems helpful.
  • Sound programming logic, creative problem-solving skills, and excellent documentation habits are necessary.
  • A professional, detail-oriented, and energetic personality with the ability to work and thrive in an entrepreneurial and team environment. Must be willing to take direction, but also share ideas and feedback in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Must have a BS or MS in computer science or related field with excellent academic credentials; a graduate degree is strongly preferred.
  • Financial/investment industry knowledge is desirable.
