Responsibilities
- Work with multiple disparate data sources for strategic reporting and analysis.
- Statistical analysis of customer data.
- Data transformations for analysis.
- Conducts and interprets multivariate analysis.
- Assists with data cleaning and recoding.
- Performs quality control checks to ensure accuracy of work.
- Writes and presents clear, effective, actionable findings based on analyses.
- Creatively solves problems.
- Explains complex methods in simple layman’s terms.
Requirements
- Excellent quantitative skills and knowledge of multivariate statistical analysis as used in market research.
- Expert knowledge of Excel and SPSS.
- Ability to develop clear and insightful reports in PowerPoint.
- Experience working with various types of data, including data sourced from consumer surveys, as well as from large (and often messy) customer databases. Ability to extract, clean and format data for analysis.
- Ability to solve problems independently.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Graduate degree in analytic field preferred.
- At least three years of experience in market research, database analysis or other areas that emphasizes the analysis and reporting of marketing data.
The following skill sets are not required, but desirable:
- Experience with the following statistical and research techniques a plus: factor and cluster analysis, regression analysis, conjoint / discrete choice or neural networks.
- Ability to write SPSS macros.
- Intermediate-level programming ability in a major programming language a plus.
- Other programming (e.g. VBA, PERL, JAVA) /web/internet/database (e.g. SQL) skills also preferable.
A successful candidate would have the ability to conduct detailed analysis and uncover gaps or inconsistencies in the data, which could negatively impact model results. Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate detailed statistical findings in clear business terms to senior business managers are needed. Needs to work well both independently and within a team environment, and must be able to evaluate data mining and statistical modeling software.
