Numerical/Physical Modeler and Analyst - Metron (Northern VA)

Provide technical support for numerical modeling and analysis of physical problems including but not limited to electro-optics imaging, RF propagation, radar, and acoustics. Design and develop high-fidelity physical and numerical models incorporating stochastic elements. Verify and validate models with real world data when available. Analyze model results to help characterize sensor/system performance, inform design decisions, and quantify technical specifications and operational requirements. Provide technical feedback based on modeled data to clients in a variety of domains. Divide work across multiple projects both independently and on a team. Explore new areas and domains of modeling and simulations.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Graduate degree in Applied Math, Physics, or Engineering
  • US Citizenship
  • Scientific computing, Numerical modeling and simulation experience
  • Strong software object-oriented coding skills in C++ or Java
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral
  • Experience in probability, statistics, or stochastic processes

Highly Desired:
  • Ph.D. in Applied Math, Physics, or Engineering
  • Active DoD security clearance
  • Experience in the software development industry or with DoD
  • Experience in EO/IR, RF, and/or acoustic modeling
  • Experience writing and using numerical models for real world applied problems

Projects typically involve developing advanced algorithms implemented in a computer prototype system for our R&D customers.
