Responsibilities
Under minimal supervision, provide programming support for data management, reporting, and analysis needs of SCHARP. The Systems Analyst / Programmer works in a team environment and supports the overall mission of SCHARP. She/he is expected to communicate effectively with other team members and be responsive to the needs of SCHARP staff as well as external agencies and manufacturers as required.
In support of protocol procedures, study-specific requirements, and clinical monitoring requirements, the incumbent may perform one or more of the following tasks in addition to other duties as assigned:
Major Duties
- Participate in CRF design and development of the data management system for studies.
- Design, test, document, and maintain SCHARP databases (SAS, DataFax, PostgreSQL).
- Develop, document, and maintain data cleaning procedures utilizing SAS edit checks.
- Design and support quality assurance procedures, standard operating procedures, and work practice guidelines and support documentation of those efforts. Follow SCHARP software development lifecycle (SDLC) practices and processes.
- Implement and maintain standard datasets and reports.
- Perform study-specific or cross study ad hoc reporting.
- Document and transfer study data from main SCHARP databases to additional analysis datasets and/or provide study datasets and information to external parties.
- Create Acrobat files (PDFs) of specific CRFs for audit purposes (internal and external).
- Maintain version control on production programs.
- Automate routine data management tasks and reporting.
- Develop and/or maintain user interface programs and software tools.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Two years’ experience as a Systems Analyst/Programmer II or equivalent; or one year as a Systems Analyst/Programmer II or equivalent and a Master's Degree in a job related area. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively as part of a project team. Experience with SAS statistical software is essential, preferably on Unix platforms. Strong SAS Macro and SAS reporting experience.
Recommended Qualifications
Background and experience with at least one computer language. Proficient use of database management and statistical software. Experience with SQL. Unix experience is desirable. Knowledge of and experience in programming support of clinical trials, statistical programming, or other scientific research programming support. Experience in writing program, system, and/or database documentation. Experience writing work practice guidelines and standard operating procedures is desirable.
