Job Title: Forecast Analytics Manager

The individual selected for this position is responsible for driving and improving forecasting processes and analytics for merchandising areas. The Forecast Analytics Manager leads his/her team of Forecast Analysts to deliver improved forecasting processes and analytics for merchandising areas. This position will also manage the day-to-day responsibilities of the Forecast analysts. The manager is responsible for process improvement and will be involved in the design and implementation of best in class demand planning processes, and is responsible for ensuring that their team is well versed and trained in the forecasting methodologies, processes and technologies. Forecast Analytics Manager is expected build strong and productive relationships with Buyers, Planners and Merchandising Analysts. Lead teams in the research of major variances, and root cause analysis and recommendations. Participate and actively work with other Managers to proved key inputs to stake holders.
The ideal candidate will have the following:
- Bachelors Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Operations Research or Business. Master Degree a plus
- 10+ years of Demand Planning or related experience
- Familiarity with relevant quantitative models such as regression analysis, exponential smoothing etc. and their application in Demand Planning
- Retail or Consumer Products industry background with experience in Merchandising, Planning, Product Flow preferred
- Experience using Manugistics preferred (Other statistical forecasting tools such as SAP, Oracle, i2, Inforem comparable)
- Highly analytical - strong business and statistical analysis skills
- Able to work with all levels of management
- Comfortable with leading and teaching large groups _ strong facilitation and listening skills
- Demonstrated leadership experience
- Demonstrated problem solving ability
- Demonstrated experience translating complicated concepts into understandable business language
- Ability to deal with conflict; strong conflict resolution skills
- Demonstrated ability to maintain composure under pressure/stress
Key responsibilities include:
- Provide direction on statistical analysis and forecasting models
- Provide leadership on forecasting scorecards to drive continuous improvement for Merchandising demand processes
- Assist team in developing various Demand Planning processes for categories and life cycles
- Manage expectations of business leads and stake holders
- Understand operational Demand Planning metrics and how they relate to strategic metrics (overall Meijer objectives)
- Participate in business review meetings (weekly or monthly)
