Job Summary
The Data Mining Architect’s role is to ensure the data architecture and data management for the organization. This individual will plan, coordinate, direct, implement and design data marts/warehouses, data mining/analysis, and data migrations and related activities to support regional and global initiatives of the organization.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities
- Manage, Design and Implement data architectures to support regional and global business initiatives (eg. Global Procurement, Commercial Reporting).
- Define and implement data standards, procedures and process to ensure data integrity within new and existing systems.
- Create and implement data dictionaries.
- Rationalize data elements where required to fulfil business and system needs.
- Recommend data setup for business process changes.
- Manage and maintain existing data marts and design future extensions to the data warehouse environment.
- Create and implement data marts or incorporate into the data warehouse.
- Maintain the integrity of the data warehouse by implementing appropriate security controls and procedures.
- Use industry best practices to create a scalable data warehouse architecture to support business reporting and analysis on a regional and global basis.
- Perform Extraction, Transformation and Loading of data from transactional systems into data marts/warehouses.
- Perform data mining and reporting activities by developing on-line analytical tools to measure business performance.
- Understand and document business requirements.
- Define data relationships to build data models, data marts and incorporate into the data warehouse.
- Coordinate with necessary business and IT teams to define data elements.
- Develop analytical models.
- Develop business reports/views against data mart/warehouse for business reporting and analysis.
- Lead and Perform data migration activities for new and existing systems.
- Lead effort to migrate data for new system implementations.
- Create and document procedures for data migration activities.
- Support Ad-hoc mass data migrations to support business changes (eg. price increases, business re-alignment, etc…)
- Other related job duties as assigned by management.

Education/Experience Requirements
- Bachelors Degree in Information Systems. MBA or equivalent business experience preferred.
- 7+ years experience in data modeling, analysis and data migrations.
- 5+ years hands-on experience with Data Warehouse implementations (covering all areas from architecture, design, development [data extraction/transformation/loading], reporting & analysis, audit trails and checks for data marts/warehouses).
- 3+ years Experience with Oracle and SQL Server databases with Oracle
- 3+ years Experience with .Net programming technologies
- PL/SQL programming experience.
- 1+ Year experience with Crystal Analysis and Crystal Reports.
- In-depth knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
- Technically proficient in data modeling, data manipulation, architecture and design of data marts and warehouses.
