Director, Analytics (Northeast, US)

The Company:

The company is a leading provider of on-demand software and data solutions for the automotive retail industry in the United States.

Reports To: The Chief Financial Officer

Location: Northeast US

Basic Function:

The company is looking for a motivated, strategic thinker to fill a critical role in the finance organization as the Director, Strategic Analysis & Reporting. The ideal candidate for this position will be an impact-oriented individual willing to roll up sleeves and provide strategic decision support through effective reporting and business analysis. Some requirements of the position will include, but are not limited to:

  • Work with company executives on management reporting.
  • Support all levels of the organization with strategic business support, including data interpretation and reporting across the many facets of the business.
  • Regular and ad-hoc financial reporting.
  • Financial modeling, forecasting and assistance with the annual budgeting process.

Principal Responsibilities:
  • Owns and manages the assessment of data to build a business case for action using creative analysis and integration of various data sets.
  • Identifies and recommends new business opportunities in existing clients.
  • Responsible for thought leadership, internal development of innovative research and analytical techniques, and methodologies and technologies designed to enhance knowledge of customers.
  • Translate complex quantitative information into presentations that are easily understood by general management.
  • Summarize and report key analytical findings in both oral and written form to different levels of management.
  • May supervise warehouse and financial planning and analysis.

Experience:

The new Director’s professional background must illustrate a five to eight (5-8) year history of progressive growth in financial capacities, statistical analysis, highlighted by strategic planning and decision support. Other experience desired:

  • Ideally, experience within a high tech and high growth company.
  • Familiarity with analysis techniques: Factor analysis, predictive modeling of all types, and cluster analysis.
  • Experience working with various types of data, including data sourced from consumer surveys, as well as from transactional histories.
  • Familiarity with a variety of analytic tools, including SPSS or SAS.
  • External consulting experience is a plus.
  • Experience with business intelligence and data mining applications is also helpful. Experience in one of the following industry segments will also be viewed as a plus:

    • Collaborative Software
    • Content & Document Management Software
    • Customer Relationship Management, Marketing & Sales Software
    • Database & File Management Software
    • E-commerce Software

    • Information Collection & Delivery
    • Market Research
    • Retail, Point-Of-Sale & Inventory Management Software

Education

At minimum a BA/BS degree in economics, finance, engineering, math, statistics, or operations research. An MBA or advanced degree is preferred.
