Job Description
The Research Department at a top financial firm is seeking a B2B Database Marketing Manager to lead the establishment of a decision support system that will drive major improvements in our business processes, marketing efforts and enable the business to compete on analytics.
A key component of this platform is to mine our data assets to determine the analyst and client behaviors that drive profitability and the Research report characteristics that can best satisfy our clients needs. To have an impact on our business, these insights and real-time recommendations will be integrated into our existing applications; such as Business Intelligence (BI), Enterprise Performance Management (EPM), Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems and Research document Authoring and content portals.
Specific responsibilities
- Lead the establishment of a decision support system for the Research division as it enables business processes and marketing efforts
- Provide leadership to a highly skilled team of Data Quality Analysts, Data Mining Analysts, Statisticians and Marketing Campaign managers
- Manage the global day-to-day operational implementation of the system and enforce adherence to data mining project best practices (such as CRISP-DM, Cross-Industry Standard Process for Data Mining)
- Serve as subject matter expert (SME) on available internal and external data sources pros, cons, alternatives, etc.
- Liaise with Research management and Analyst teams and to understand their requirements, ensuring strategic business objectives are met
- Co-ordinate execution of data mining and database marketing campaigns.
- Liaise with existing application owners to ensure that advanced customer insights and intelligent actions for decisioning are available to and integrated with our BI, CRM, Authoring and Portal platforms.
- Responsible for managing, manipulating and mining customer and prospect data to and from marketing databases to support the execution of global B2B marketing campaigns
- Use experience in multivariate statistical analysis (linear & logistic regression, categorical analysis, cluster analysis, statistical sampling, decision trees, multidimensional scaling, etc.) to develop models and marketing experience to develop target market segments for campaign lists.
- Strong experience applying text mining techniques to customer call centers or to large-volume document libraries
- Gather, develop and own business requirements, and work with IT counterparts to ensure these requirements are delivered successfully and on schedule
- Continual improve and extend the data sources available for data mining by working with internal and external third party data providers
- Produce key performance indicator reports and analyses for all data mining projects and campaigns
- Provide data and analyses in a timely manner and verify the accuracy of data analyses produced by self, or others using existing BI and EPM systems
- 7-10 years B2B database marketing experience
- Demonstrated knowledge of database marketing techniques including targeting, segmentation and list processes
- Expert with Data Mining tools e.g SPSS Clementine, SAS, Spotfire Miner
- Strong team orientation with leadership experience
- Strong Project Management skills
- Excellent organizational, communication and interpersonal skills
- Strong problem-solving capabilities; ability to come up with solutions for complex business problems
- Familiar with all phases of the project lifecycle: requirements gathering, design, development, deployment, and support
- Proficient in developing business requirements, use cases, and user acceptance testing cases/plans
- Ability to manage multiple activities to aggressive deadlines
- Ability to interface with multiple business units
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple initiatives simultaneously and meet aggressive deadlines
- Self-starter with can-do attitude and a strong sense of ownership
- Prior experience on global projects / global systems implementations
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Statistics or Quantitative Management
- PMI Certification
- Knowledge of Research, Investment Banking or Financial Services
- Ability and analyze and write SQL queries to perform data analysis tasks
