Senior Research Scientist - Webtrends (San Bruno, CA)

Webtrends, the market leader in web analytics and Marketing Performance Management solutions is looking for a Senior Scientist for our office in San Bruno, California. Our Ad Director division uses sophisticated software techniques to optimize campaigns for web advertising.

We are looking for a talented Senior Scientist to take our industry best search optimization technology to the next level of sophistication and elegance. The successful candidate will be able to extend the current algorithms as well as invent new approaches to solving our customers’ challenges.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the research and development of the core algorithmic components of a paid-search online bidding system.
  • Design and implement practical algorithms to make business decisions in response to statistical data.
  • Continuous research in optimization techniques and advancements.
  • Mentor team members.
  • Assist with strategic accounts.

Skills/Experience:

Required:

  • PhD in engineering, computer science, operations research, or statistics.
  • Experience in leadership roles.
  • Breadth of statistical models or optimization techniques including exposure to many of the following: Bayesian modeling, Markov chain Monte Carlo (MCMC), Expectation maximization, Dynamic models, Linear Programming.
  • Experience working with or in a programming language.
  • Passion and proven ability to innovate.
  • Strong communication skills both written and verbal.

Desirable:
  • Experience with R
  • Experience with Python
  • Experience with SQL
  • Experience in the search space is significant asset.

Scope: This is an individual contributor position.

Interaction

This position is an internal facing position reporting into a development manager, as a team member. The ability to effectively work within a team environment and build and maintain strong working relationships are required.

Working Conditions

This position is located in an office building in San Bruno, CA. Incumbent must pass background check.
