Technical Data Steward - Ethoca (Toronto, Canada)

As a Technical Data Steward, based in Toronto Canada, you will be hands-on in driving the implementation of a world class global collaborative fraud management system. When it comes to putting your years of experience to the test, look no further than Ethoca.

DESCRIPTION

Ethoca is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced, and dynamic individual to lead their development and implementation of their data quality strategy. This is both an operational and leadership role for an energetic and motivated self-starter who is passionate about data quality, creating a great customer experience, and contributing to the efficiency and effectiveness of our risk portfolio. Candidates should be extremely proactive, motivated, organized and analytical. They should also work well within a fast-paced, quickly changing organization.

Typical work requirements include:

  • Data Analysis – Identify opportunities for standardization, matching improvements, quality gaps, implementing reporting processes to track data quality
  • Process Development – Define and implement processes required to ensure required levels of data quality are met over time and in all environments
  • ETL – Hands-on implementation of ETL processes to load data from various sources into the system
  • Standardization/Matching – Implement new standardization and fuzzy matching algorithms
  • Fraud-risk analysis –Support our experience analytics team through data manipulation as new risk models are developed
  • Recommending Technology – Recommending technology and solutions for our own systems and for our customers to improve customer satisfaction and loyalty.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Hands-on implementation of ETL processes to load data into the system
  • Work closely with technical staff, applications development, and the data owners/subject matter experts from the businesses.
  • Utilize data profiling and data quality tools, as well as with various data sources to uncover and determine root causes of data quality issues.
  • Articulate the need for and benefits of data quality to IT and the business alike will be critical.
  • Collaborate directly with the business data owners to establish the quality business rules that will provide the foundation of the organization's data quality improvement plan.
  • Establish a data quality methodology documenting a repeatable set of processes for determining, investigating and resolving data quality issues, establishing an on-going process for maintaining quality data, and defining data quality audit procedures.
  • Lead requirements and implementation of fuzzy matching algorithms
  • Execute data standardization and validation tools including setup and scheduling periodic updates.
  • Make the approved configuration changes and monitor them day to day.

TECHNICAL EXPERIENCE
  • Strong knowledge of database structures and SQL needed. Ability to identify sets and subsets of information across multiple joins or unions of tables.
  • Technical experience with executing ETL processes and fuzzy matching algorithms
  • Experience with Data Quality software. Must have technical experience with implementation and maintenance.
  • Experience in managing projects through to completion.
  • Proficient in MS Project, MS Access, Visio and Excel.
  • Document the technical details of your work to improve collaboration with other team members.
  • Experience working with sensitive and/or encrypted data is preferred.

REQUIREMENTS:
  • 5+ professional experience in a data quality or ETL role, someone with high energy and creativity and an openness to new ideas/approaches.
  • Post secondary degree in quantitative or science discipline such as statistics, economics, applied mathematics, quantitative methods, operations research, research methodology, etc.
  • Comprehensive understanding of quantitative methods and extreme attention to detail.
  • Previous experience in the e-commerce and/or credit card domain preferred.
  • Strong proficiency in SQL.
  • Proven problem solver with excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of credit card processing, payment fraud prevention techniques, and e-commerce procedures are an advantage
  • Ability to effectively influence and communicate cross-functionally with all levels of management within Ethoca
  • Self starting, proven leader with strong analytical skills, capable of challenging and inspiring a talented and diverse team
  • Team player with exceptional interpersonal skills
  • Hard working, detail-oriented, and well organized
  • Fluent English required
